Two weeks left: an update

This week was the last week of grammar, the results of civilization and the last class of Moliere, except for the final. After Monday night’s Alumni reception at the Marriott on the Champs-Elysee I couldn’t bring myself to go to grammar so, I didn’t which wasn’t a loss for me, it just means that I didn’t have to hear my teacher comment, or should I say stereotype, America and Americans. Tuesday afternoon was our first art class since since May, we got our results back from our last test and I got a B- I’m okay with it but I’m not at the same time. We were graded like we were all art students and we should have every fact about every painting memorized and having never taken an art class nor having ever stepped foot in the Louvre I was a bit overwhelmed. But I think I’ll enjoy the second half of the class more because we’re looking at more contemporary art which I prefer, either that or I’ll never want to step foot in a museum again. Wednesday was another painfully dull Moliere class but thankfully we only have our final exam left! After Moliere was really the highlight of my week. A bunch of us went to Indiana, French tex-mex with quite politically incorrect decorating, for tapas and then we saw the Sex and the City movie. It was naturally amazing because it was familiar and in English! Today was also pretty great, I didn’t go to the last day of grammar because our grades were already turned in so it wasn’t obligatory and I don’t learn anything anyways. In the afternoon I received my results from civilization which was definitely a great end to the week! Philippe has been a really great professor and my grades reflect it! Throughout the last two months he has been really encouraging with our French and he has a way of really making the information interesting. I really enjoyed all the excursions during the class and I learned alot. It was definitely encouraging to hear Philippe say he’s felt I’ve made alot of progress because Suozzo doesn’t even know the word compliment. His own ego gets in the way. The civilization class has been for me a validation of the knowledge I’ve gained and the trip as a whole, too bad DePaul doesn’t have professors like Philippe who are intelligent but don’t have egos the size of the Eiffel Tower. Anyways, this weekend I plan on doing a bunch of touristy stuff. So we’ll see how that all goes.
